Course Description
Goal: The goal of this course is to teach the home inspector to write a comprehensive home inspection report according to the standards and the inspector's observations. Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student shall be able to: Describe the difference between a checklist and a narrative report; List the three functions of a report narrative; Accept the level of assumption; Identify defects found during a typical home inspection in writing; Develop customized report narratives for the inspection report; Use "no visible evidence" language; Assess the risks of exceeding the standards of practice; Communicate what happens when an inspector misses something; List ways inspectors can avoid lawsuits by writing accurate inspection reports Properly communicate in writing the need to correct defects.
