Course Description
The goal of this course is to teach 25 building standards and good practices related to inspecting systems and components in a residential dwelling. It is intended to raise the awareness and understanding of numerous building standards and good practices. Learning and understanding these standards will allow the inspector to effectively recognize defects in condition and installation. Different Standards This course, "25 Standards Every Inspector Should Know Course," is different from the Home Inspection Standards of Practice. They are not the same course. The standards are not the same. Certification One of the main differences is that this course is part of a certification program. This course is one course of several required courses that must be completed to attain a home inspector certification as described on www.nachi.org/cpi-requirements. Introduction Inspecting a residential building involves examining many interrelated elements. Inspectors must examine mechanical systems, such as the dwelling’s plumbing and electrical, structural components, such as the roof and garage, and several other features in between. This course provides the inspector with the 25 basic building standards encompassed in an average home inspection, including their relationships with each other. Also presented are sections of particular concern in certain geographical regions, such as roofing integrity in high-wind areas and plumbing requirements in locations subject to freezing temperatures. This course provides the fundamentals for inspectors to recognize defects and potential hazards and the proper installation and operation of the most common systems and components in a home. The inspector can then confidently pass on useful information to the homeowner. This course is coming soon.
